Ian studied Estate Management at Brookes University in Oxford, graduating with a Diploma in Estate Management in 1975, and became a Chartered Surveyor in 1980. He is a General Practice Surveyor and Registered Valuer, with a particular interest in regeneration.
Ian’s first employment in 1975 was with the Central Government Valuation Service, later to become an executive agency known as District Valuer Services (DVS), initially based in Leamington Spa and subsequently, from 1998, in Coventry. This position covered the property requirements of public bodies such as central and local government and the NHS, with work on a wide range of properties generally across Coventry, Warwickshire, and Solihull, including acquisitions, both by agreement and under compulsory powers, disposals of residential and commercial property, general valuation advice, valuations for taxation purposes and commercial estate management, comprising grant and renewal of leases and rent review.
In 2011, Ian joined Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council as Estates Surveyor, dealing with acquisitions and disposals, and commercial estate management of the Council’s investment portfolio. In 2015, he joined Warwickshire County Council dealing mainly with disposals, including some significant strategic residential development sites, including acquisitions.
Ian is married with 2 children and lives in Kenilworth. Outside of work, Ian is interested in classic cars, fishing, and hill walking.
