About Us

OUR PROUD HERITAGE

As one of the Midland region’s longest established firms of Chartered Surveyors, we offer a diverse range of property services to private, corporate, and institutional clients. Although our history dates back as far as 1806, we are proud to provide a Twenty-First Century service, very much based on personal contact and specific client needs.

Godfrey-Payton is a fully independent private partnership of Chartered Surveyors with roots back to 1806.

Warwick Office

The firm today evolved from three companies. The first based in Coventry, Walter P Evans and Company was founded by Robert Evans (father to Mary Ann Evans, better known as George Eliot the novelist) original Agent to the Fitzroy Newdigate Estates at Nuneaton.

Secondly, H.G. Godfrey-Payton and Co appointed Agent to the Earls of Warwick at Warwick Castle, whose offices at 25 High Street we have occupied since 1918.

Latterly, Greville-Heygate and Company originating in Market Harborough, managing a number of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire Estates.

Coventry Office

The name has shortened in more recent times to simply Godfrey-Payton, and through the acumen and stewardship of its Partners, both past and present, has evolved into the multi-disciplined firm of today.

Although our roots are still firmly based in rural estate management, we now cover all property areas, including commercial, residential, utilities, and telecoms.

Whilst immensely proud of our pedigree, we are also forward thinking, embracing newer property sectors such as telecoms and utilities.

We believe our strengths lie in the stability and flexibility of our company, combined with the experience of our resources, to deliver not only sound estate management practices but innovative solutions through a thorough understanding of our client’s objectives.
